I haven’t been in on-line gaming in forever. It’s been like 5 years since I’ve had good enough internet service to play any games. I recently got some high speed internet service and I thought I’d spend some time this weekend to play a couple on-line games and see how rusty I am. Since my computer’s a little out dated I started off with Diablo. I lasted about 1 hour… There is no chatting anymore. The only things in the chat rooms are freaking BOTS trying to sell something or have you join their clan. Who the F would pay real money for something in a game? Who the F would join a clan that constantly spams on chat?
After taking my frustration out on my wife I decided to try and play StarCraft. That was a BAD idea. I spent at least 20 minutes trying to get a game. Then after the game started and I defeated the guy’s rush he flippin’ quit. Are you kidding me? Back in the lobby I asked if that was normal and one person said yes. That’s the only response I got. Oh… wait. I forgot about the clan spammers. They were there too. I’m not going to waste my time on that crap. How can I learn anything?
I guess I long for the glory days of WON. Chatting with people about a game that everyone loves to play. Stirring up some drama about which clan is better or what not. Pressing on after your first attack was defeated and trying to pull a victory out of your ass. I know that the small amount of time I spent on these games probably doesn’t mean much but first impressions are long lasting.
