Going to play campaign first to get the feel for the controls.
The manual is vague on what ships are better for what thing.
What are the ships that everyone builds? (besides ions and dessys)

Sometimes Torp Frigs or Bombers (both should be upgraded). Intercepters. Be better if u didnt go Vaygr. Its easier that way, unless ur skilled at vaygr. Tell u what, if I can, later, I’ll help u with multiplayer. U’ll need T&L (transform and lighting) for singleplayer and sometimes for multiplayer. I dont have T&L, so I’m limited to what maps I can play. One more thing: when u finish the singleplayer, can I have the saved files? Again, i’m limited to what levels i can play. Thx.

Yes, I play hw2, been playing for months.
I’m on level 6 on HW2 now, I’m maxed out on ion frigates and heavy corvettes.
I’ll be sure to send you those files Volans, you just have to tell me how.
Couple more days and I’ll finish it, then I’ll feel qualified to at least show up in the lobby.

If ur gonna send those files, I’d send them via E-mail. Dont worry, ur just beginning at the game, no problem. I thought we’d start with a little practice in multiplayer, so i’ve been looking for u. Also, ions themselves can help a lot, but when range is an issue, that’s where torp frigs come in (it’d be a good idea if the torps were upgraded on torp research, that way, u get better torps on torp frigs and dessys).
Guys, be sure to invite yourselves to the HW2 strat forum! Pit and I have been hard at work writing up lots of stuff for people new to HW2 
I’d be interested in your opinions, as generally experienced players, on what else would be handy to put in there.

Volans. Improved torpedoes does NOT affect DD torps, i once thought the same thing, but me and kas went into a labbing game, where his DD didnt have impd torps and mine did. they attacked each other at the same time. mine one with so little health that a scout would have killed it.

I have noticed that the HW2 SF are very active in here with strats (love the “Smack your grandma hard” strat, just because of the title) and just general sillyness.
So, a big “Attaboy” to Pitty and the rest of HW2 SF.
We are gonna rock n roll when SOSE comes out.
